Irish Yogurts

Diarmuid O'Sullivan came to the Board in 1994 with an ambitious proposal to develop his own range of high quality yoghurt products that would compete with the major players in the marketplace and develop a niche based upon quality differentiation.

The Board approved a capital grant to enable Diarmuid to construct and equip his own premises in Clonakilty and commence production.

Since then Irish Yogurts has gone on to become a national brand, winning the promoter several major awards in the process. The company won West Cork Company of the Year in 1998 and went on to win the National Enterprise Award that year also. Diarmuid represented Ireland with distinction at the finals of the World Young Entrepreneur of the Year, held in Portugal later in the year. The company has grown solidly since that time and is now a fixture on the shelves of each of the multiples, as well as producing some of their 'own' brands, and exports to the UK, Europe and the Middle East.

The company currently employs 62 people in Clonakilty.
