Cork County Council recently approved a €1.25 million Business Development Fund. The aims of the fund are as follows:
• Employment creation or sustainment
• Grow Business Activity
• Assist projects that may not get funding under existing programme’s – i.e. over 10 employees/not exporting, capital intensive, food/farm diversification, tourism related…etc
• Reward innovative thinking
• Assist in the promotion of Cork produce
• Enhance competitiveness of Cork
• Assist in the development of clusters of excellence
Applications for assistance under the Economic Development Fund can be made under the following categories:
Capital Funding
Loan Guarantee Scheme
Enterprise Projects with Third Level Educational Bodies
Promotion and Development of Enterprise Centre
Promotion of Festivals and Conferences
Applications for this fund will be referred on by the County Enterprise Boards, Leader Groups or Enterprise Ireland in the first instance. An application will be processed and evaluated by the above relevant agency, in the normal course, before being passed to Cork County Council for a final evaluation. The aim is to fill the gap but no duplicate existing schemes. It is intended that the level of grant contribution will generally be in the €10,000 - €20,000 range. Funding levels greater than this and up to a maximum of €50,000 may be considered, but only in exceptional circumstances. The development of a strong business plan will be an essential component of the application process. Please apply to the relevant Agency using their application form / application requirements.
